Volunteer With the Friends of the Fort Riley Museums!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Friends of the Fort Riley Museums! Our special events are made possible by volunteers who give their time to help us share Fort Riley’s history, welcome our community, and support the Fort Riley Museums.

Please complete the information below to volunteer for Apple Days, Ghost Tours, or the Tour of Homes. Whether you can give a few hours or help throughout an event, we would love to have you join us!

Volunteer Information:

Apple Days — September 26

Apple Days is a special Fort Riley community event celebrating history, tradition, and the fall season. Volunteers are an important part of making the event welcoming and enjoyable for visitors and families.

Volunteer opportunities may include:

  • Pre SalePie Making
  • Event set-up and preparation
  • Day of Event Pie Sales
  • Day of Event help
  • Directing visitors and answering general questions
  • Event Support
  • Event clean-up
  • Wherever I am needed most

Ghost Tours — October 25

Ghost Tours brings Fort Riley history to life through an evening of stories, historic locations, and characters from Fort Riley's past. Volunteers help create a memorable experience for guests while sharing the history and stories of the installation.

There are opportunities for volunteers who enjoy performing and storytelling, as well as plenty of behind-the-scenes positions for those who would rather help with event operations.

Volunteer opportunities may include:

  • Portraying a historical person or character
  • Sharing a prepared historical story
  • Serving as a tour guide or group leader
  • Guest check-in
  • Helping organize tour groups and lines
  • Directing guests between locations
  • Set-up and decorating
  • Event support
  • Clean-up
  • Wherever I am needed most

Tour of Homes — December 6

The Tour of Homes is a special opportunity for guests to experience Fort Riley's historic homes and learn more about the people, architecture, traditions, and history that make the installation unique.

Volunteers help welcome guests, provide directions, assist homeowners and event organizers, and ensure visitors have an enjoyable experience throughout the tour.

Volunteer opportunities may include:

  • Welcoming and directing guests
  • Check-in and ticket assistance
  • Helping manage the flow of visitors through homes
  • Providing directional assistance
  • Set-up and event preparation
  • Clean-up
  • Wherever I am needed most
